Blessing of the Hands Ceremony
September 7, 2008, 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm, Join the POWR campaign
at the bottom of the steps, in front the Philadelphia Museum of Art for
the “Blessing of the Hands Ceremony.”
The ceremony will celebrate Philadelphia workers and honor
the hard working security guards at the Philadelphia Museum of Art who
are trying to win paid sick-leave. The ceremony will include singing,
music, fun street theater and the power of prayer for workers who need
your help.
We are encouraging participants to come early and bring their families.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art opens its general collection free to the
public on Sundays. Check out the collections and be sure to proudly wear
a “I Support My Security Guard” sticker that you can get from
a Jobs with Justice Activist outside of the museum starting at 11 am on
September 7. Sign the petition saying that you don’t approve of
your tax money being used to support the mistreatment of workers. Then,
stick around for the ‘Blessing of the Hands Ceremony.”
